Haval H2: Shanghai motor show 2013 Great Wall's offshoot unveils a new SUV line-up and is evaluating a UK launch for one road-biased model

Chinese SUV specialist Haval, a sub-brand of Great Wall, has unveiled a glut of new SUVs at the Shanghai motor show, including a compact model called H2 and a H6 SUV that could be sold in the UK.

The H2 follows the global trend for Nissan Juke style 'supermini SUVs' that are around 4400mm in length. The H2 is 4330mm long, 1815mm wide and 1700mm high.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 108bhp at 5600rpm and 155lb ft of torque at 2000-4500rpm. A six-speed manual transmission is standard. Front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive can be specified.

The underpinnings are sophisticated, with Macpherson strut front suspension and a multi-link set up at the rear.

Other Haval offerings included a 4.7-metre long SUV called H5 with more rugged off-road looks and a more contemporary road-biased offering called H6 that's 4.6m long, and is understood to be under evaluation for launch in the UK as part of Great Wall's gradual ramping up of operations here.

The vast range-topper is called H8. This model is 4806mm long, 1975mm wide and 1794mm high. Power comes from a 215bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine, driving either the front or all four wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Great Wall's new offering away from its Haval SUVs was a 4.7m-long saloon called C50.
