SL350 and 500 models receive AMG-inspired cosmetic tweaks
Mercedes has facelifted its SL roadster, adding more equipment and introducing small cosmetic tweaks. The changes will be incorporated to all SL models produced from June.
Despite Mercedes' claims that the additional equipment on the AMG Sport models totals £6625, the list prices for the SL350 and 500 are lower than previously.
An SL350 AMG Sport is £69,960 (where the SL350 was £72,520) and the SL500 AMG Sport £79,970 compared to the SL500's £83,470. The SL63 AMG costs £110,785.
The most significant shift in the range affects the SL350 and SL500, which will now be sold as AMG Sport models. This adds an AMG Sports Pack to both the interior and exterior, an electric glass sunroof and Parktronic with Active Park Assist.
Mercedes' exterior AMG Sports Pack comprises 19in, five-spoke AMG alloy wheels, 10mm lower suspension with revised dampers, a subtle AMG bodykit and Mercedes-Benz-embossed brake calipers.
AMG-influenced interior tweaks include a new steering wheel, perforated leather, 'Platinum White Pearl' stitching and AMG floor mats.
The range of colours and trims for the SL has been bolstered also. Polar White is now a standard exterior colour, and Hyacinth Red is one of two new optional paint finishes, costing £690.
Nappa leather in Bengal Red or Porcelain costs £710, and the interior trim can be upgraded to Black Ash Wood from the standard Light Brushed Aluminium for £345.
Both models remain mechanically unchanged, albeit with modified shift points for the seven-speed automatic gearbox.
Elsewhere in the range, the SL63 AMG also receives the electric glass sunroof and Parktronic system. The SL65 AMG continues without any changes at the top of the SL range.
