Vauxhall will launch a rival for the Audi A6 Allroad later this year. Based on the Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer, the Country Tourer will get more rugged styling, with extended wheel arches, sill covers and revised front and rear bumpers.
Sources say the model sits higher than normal and looks far more ‘butch’ than the the donor vehicle thanks to body cladding, something backed up by the spy mule testing ahead of the car's debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September.
Four-wheel drive will be an option, as will both petrol and diesel engines. The cabin is expected to carry over from the recently facelifted standard Insignia, as will the revised front and rear-end styling.
The model is not expected to be a big seller in the UK, and is aimed more at the German market, where ‘Allroad’ style vehicles are popular in all segments from the supermini market upwards.
