Mark Adams returns to Vauxhall Head of design at Cadillac Buick is to rejoin Vauxhall; part of his brief will be to build joint strategies between Stateside and Europe

Mark Adams is leaving his position of head of design at Cadillac and returning to Vauxhall.

Adams is charged with establishing a better design connection between GM’s Vauxhall and Buick brands. Vauxhall says that with his repatriation Adams will be building joint strategies across the two marques.

One of his first jobs will be making sure the newly facelifted Insignia— which goes on sale in September — is as much of a success as the old model, which won European Car of the Year in 2009.

Adams moved to his previous position as Director of Global Cadillac Buick Design in August last year from Vauxhall, where he was vice president of design for GM Europe.

While at Vauxhall Adams created the GM Europe Design Centre in Russelsheim and was responisble for designing cars across GM’s Vauxhall,  Saab and Saturn brands. Before joining Vauxhall he held senior design positions with Ford.

Part of Adams' portfolio includes the Adam, Ampera and Astra GTC. While at Cadillac the design he has become most famous for is the CTS saloon.
