Citroen Cactus concept teased First picture of Citroen Cactus concept released ahead of a Frankfurt motor show debut

The first teaser picture of the Citroen Cactus concept has been released, prior to the car's debut at the Frankfurt motor show next month.

The Cactus concept is believed to show Citroen's new design language, most notably the style it will use for its next generation C-line vehicles, set to be revealed next year. Rumours also suggest that the concept previews the look of the next-generation Citroen C4 supermini, which was given a facelift of its own at the Geneva motor show this year.

Citroen has previously indicated that it intends to focus on simplicity for its C-badged vehicles, while maintaining its higher-end DS line to rival the likes of BMW and Audi. However it has stressed that Citroen will not become a rival for budget brands such as Dacia, instead focusing on offering simple elegance at a value price.

It has previously shown a highly stripped out concept called the Citroen C-Cactus, which is believed to be the inspiration for this latest concept. However, the final production cars are not thought to be anything like as minimal in design, following negative feedback from potential customers.

Few details can be seen from the teaser image, but it does appear to show that the car will use the same split-level light design seen on the new C4 Picasso. Black plastic cladding at the base of the bumper and over the wheelarch also suggests that the concept will adopt a rugged, pseudo-SUV look.
