Mid-range E-class soft-top benefits from comprehensive reworking

These are the latest spy shots showing the face-lifted Mercedes E-class cabriolet undergoing testing. The model is due to be launched at next year’s Detroit motor show.

The images confirm the marque’s decision to replace the current model’s distinctive quad headlights with two individual units.

The updated front-end styling provides improved cohesion with Mercedes’ current range and is claimed to offer improved aerodynamics while decreasing shutline exposure.

Mid-life exterior updates to the E-class range are comprehensive, including a revised grille and reworked front and rear bumpers, along with newly designed tail-lights.

Inside, the new model will boast improved trim materials, upgraded instrument graphics and a more modern version of Mercedes’ Comand multimedia system. Mercedes is also expected to replace the engines for more efficient units.
